Hello everyone, in this email I will show you how to use our email list country finder tool. It's a pretty simple tool — you simply enter your email list, and our software will try to work out the country for each email address. There are several reasons why you’d want that information. The most obvious one is that you can choose not to send to certain countries that wouldn’t want to buy your products or be able to afford them, etc. Also, if you know where a person resides, you can customize your email a lot more for a higher click-through rate and open rate. We have various ways of trying to work out which country an email address is linked to: We can look at the TLD (the extension on the domain name). You can supply an IP address that the user signed up with, and we can convert that into a country. We can also try to load the website that the email address is linked to. For example, if it’s jim@cheese.com , we’ll load cheese.com and look for an address on that website to work out which country that email belongs to. Let’s do a couple of quick demos with a small list so you can see how it works. We’ve entered a few emails, and in the first demo, we’re not going to supply the IP address that the user signed up with. We’ll simply enter our little email list, look at the TLDs, and keep this setting checked so we’ll also look for addresses on the websites. We’ll start the check — it should be very quick because it’s a small list. You can see we’ve already got some results. You can see here that we used the TLD to work out that one email is from the UK. Another one is a .com, which could be anywhere, but we loaded the website and found that it’s a UK email address based on the address on the site. Some email addresses couldn’t be identified because there’s no country-specific TLD in the domain, no IP address supplied, and no address found on the website — so we couldn’t reliably determine which country those belong to. Now we’ll do another demo where we do supply the IP addresses that the users signed up with. As you can see, we’ve entered another small list and supplied pretend IP addresses linked to specific countries. They are real IP addresses associated with those countries. So now you should see: one linked to the UK, one linked to India, one linked to Russia, and one linked to Germany. Let’s run the check — and as you can see, we’ve got our UK one, our India one, a Russian one, and a German one. That concludes our demo for now.
