Image Copyright Checker Demo Video

Hello everyone, in this video I'm going to show you how to use our image copyright checker tool. You simply point this tool at any website, and it will download every page and every image on those pages. It then checks each image to see if there's any copyright information in the image’s metadata. Whenever you create an image, most image tools give you the option to add metadata. Many photographers or designers who take high-quality pictures use this to protect their intellectual property by embedding a copyright notice in the image metadata. So, when that image is downloaded or reused somewhere else, the copyright metadata remains within it. Now, the reason you want to check whether a website you own—or one you’re responsible for—has images that belong to other people (with copyright information in their metadata) is because there are companies that scan the internet for unauthorized image use. These companies search for people using copyrighted images—either purposely or accidentally—and once they find them, they often take legal action or demand payment on behalf of the original owner. Often, this happens when someone buys a website or starts managing one, and the previous owner simply took images from Google Image Search and uploaded them. The new owner or manager only finds out when they receive a cease and desist letter threatening legal action. This is definitely something you want to stay on top of. Now let’s go through the options in the tool. It’s very simple: You add the website you want to scan for copyrighted images. If you have your own copyright metadata in your images, you can add that here so it’s excluded from the results. You can also exclude common copyright metadata automatically added by some tools, like “Apple Inc.” or “Adobe,” when saving images. Finally, you can choose to only show each image once, which makes the results easier to read. If you own the website and know how many concurrent connections it can handle, you can increase the scan speed. If you’re unsure, lower it to five to prevent the site from blocking the scanner’s IP address. Now that we’ve configured the options, let’s start a scan of a few random websites and go over the results. After scanning several websites, you can see that some images include copyright metadata that doesn’t belong to the site owner. For example, one image contained copyright data from a person likely unrelated to the website it appears on. Another site showed a copyright notice from a completely different company, indicating the image probably wasn’t theirs. In another case, a website called “Social Sprout” was using an image copyrighted by “Flux Software”—two unrelated entities. So, as you can see, this tool is super simple to use. You point it at your website, it downloads all the images, extracts the copyright metadata, and lets you quickly identify whether you’re using any images you shouldn’t be. This helps you avoid potential fines or legal action. That concludes our video. As always, thank you for watching.
