Hello everyone, in this video I'm going to show you how to use our URL list checker tool. So this tool accepts a list of URLs, and they can be domains or full URLs, and it will check to see if they meet all of your criteria that you specify below here. So it's a pretty simple tool to use. Enter your list here, or upload a line separated file here, and then we'll go through some of the settings below. Now the first thing to note: for a website to pass your criteria, it must pass all of the checks that you specify. So if it passes one check and fails another one, it won't show as passing all of your criteria. So let's start with a simple one. We want to know which of these websites we've entered are WordPress. So we're going to check this WordPress option. I'm going to click start, and it'll work its way through the list, and then we'll have a look at the results in a second. Now we'll come back a few minutes later, and you can see of the 400 websites we entered, 108 passed our criteria list, and that was simply that they are WordPress. And we can export these passed URLs, and you can see we've got a list there — the ones that passed. And then we can also export the ones that failed. And you can see we've got a list of failing URLs and a reason that they failed as well. So let's do a few more little demo checks. We're going to see which of these 400 websites are probably just blogs. So we're going to check the title tag of these home pages to see if it contains the word “blog.” Come back in a minute and we'll see what we found. So we've come back a few minutes later and checked those 400 websites, and we can see there are a few which do have the word “blog” in the HTML title. If we just open one of these up randomly, you can see that it does have the word “blog” in the title there. So let's do another check now. We're going to paste in a load of random websites from somewhere in the middle of the Majestic Million list, which is a big list of websites. And we're going to see which ones return an error — so that might be the hosting is down, the domain has expired, or something like that. So we'll kick that scan off, and then we'll come back in a minute and see what we find. So coming back a few minutes later, we've worked our way through that list. If we export these failed ones and open them up, you can see the list of failed URLs, and you can even see why they failed — some connection errors, some serve up a web page but it has a 403 error, etc. So that's a really quick, easy way of seeing which websites are dead on a big list. And you can do other checks like filtering the URL for certain keywords, or you can even check the entire HTML of the home page, or any of it. You can enter a full URL in here as well, if you like. You can check the full URL of the home page to see if it contains any HTML you want in there. So I think that was an example where I checked to see if a big list of websites were using Google Analytics. So you can do all kinds of cool, creative things with this tool.
